NOTES ABOUT THE FARM AND FAMILY

In 2004, Nancy Majano and her husband José Arenivar bought a coffee farm on the slopes of the Santa Ana volcano.  In October of 2005, that volcano erupted, and within the week, Hurricane Stan hit. Yet, Monte Rey would persevere, coming back in a big way with a win in the 2007 El Salvador Cup of Excellence.  We met Nancy the next year and fell in love with Monte Rey. This year, Nancy and José took on the task of processing all of the coffee at the farm using an aquapulper. Through tasting the coffee together, we've worked with Nancy to refine the process, resulting in the best coffee we've ever seen from Monte Rey.
