NOTES ABOUT THE FARM AND FAMILY

Nancy Majano is a rare creature in the coffee producing culture of El Salvador: she doesn’t come from a long line of coffee producers. In fact, she and her husand José are relative novices to agriculture, having bought Monte Rey in 2004. What Nancy lacks in pedigree, she makes up in enthusiasm having spent much of the last decade replanting, renovating and rebuilding Monte Rey. But she didn’t stop there. In the past couple of years, Nancy has purchased an aquapulper and set about the formidable task of rebuilding her drying tables. After working directly with her through another round of processing experiments, we’ve once again selected a lots from the Carrizal and Bambú sections of the farm because of their standout acidity and fruited sweetness.
