Who we are:
Started in 2005, Ritual Coffee Roasters has four Bay Area retail locations, a roastery in SOMA, and a lengthy history of great coffee and great people. We continue to develop a culture of passionate coffee professionals who have a blast preparing, serving, and learning about some of the best coffee in the world. We source our beans from producers we know personally. Then we roast them in an aggressively light way. Lastly, we prepare our coffee with down-to-the-second precision. Our goal is to make the best cup of coffee anywhere and we’re hiring people who are also interested in that idea.
What’s in it for you?
Working at Ritual means working in a fun environment with people who share your same passion about coffee. We’re interested in developing a complete barista - someone who not only prepares excellent coffee, but also gives superlative customer service and fosters a positive work environment for others. You’ll receive thorough training and the opportunity to contribute immediately. You’ll start at $12 an hour plus tips. We also offer health and dental insurance, sick pay, and vacation pay, following a provisional period and 90 days employment
Our ideal candidate:
You don’t need to be World Barista Champion to get a job with us, but you must love coffee. You also need to love giving great service - that means a lot of smiling, saying thank you, and focusing on the whole customer experience. Employees that succeed at Ritual work well in a team environment and are able to juggle multiple tasks with grace and a positive attitude. Be prepared to work hard with passionate people in a rewarding environment. It’s what has worked for us for 8 years.
Email a resume and cover letter to our Napa Coffee Bar Manager firstname.lastname@example.org. Tell us who you are, how you could contribute, and your idea of great customer service. Applications submitted without a cover letter will not be considered, and that’s the truth.

Changes in a place are as constant as those in our lives. There is something electric in
the city right now: something strongly alluring and curiously driving. While we change our
own space over the next few months, we will explore what place is and how change can
affect a place.
To begin the journey, we have invited photographer, Arthur Alvarez to share what he calls
Nightscapes. Landscapes taken after the sun has fallen and the moon is high. Engulfed in
the dim glow of twilight, he explores urban areas from San Francisco to Japan.
His images present cities as stories that tell the tale of it's inhabitants. From the constant
stream of human traffic whizzing across Japan's bright crosswalks, to the the quiet
illumination of christmas lights hanging from buildings far from San Francisco's center.
Always curious, and never without film or flashlight. Alvarez scours cities for vantage
points from high above, to offer us new perspectives of the world below.
Join us from 69pm on Friday, March 28th to warmly welcome Arthur’s work. And if you
can’t make the opening, come into the cafe to grab a cup and check out the work in the
next few weeks. To match the pace of this place, we will rotate the shows every couple of
weeks, so stay tuned!

Of course we love it, but check out what Zagat is saying about La Libertad:
The Drink: La Libertad V-60 pour-over at Ritual Coffee Roasters at Proxy
The Price: $4
Why it’s amazing: There’s nothing static on this cult roasters arsenal, including it’s famous “Sweet Tooth” offering, that showcases a different single-original espresso each month, found at all it’s locations. But Emily Dobies, manager of Ritual’s shipping container-turned-espresso bar at Hayes Valley’s Proxy project, is particularly jazzed about the return of La Libertad, an organic blend from Equador that’s a blend of 18 small producers in the small village of the same name. The coffee is best described as bright and floral, with flavors of chrysanthemum, dried apricot and McIntosh apple.
Perfect Pairing: Black Jet Baking Company's apple galette accentuates the coffee’s inherent apple undertones.
Know Before You Go: La Libertad is available at all the Ritual branches, but the presentation is the prettiest at the shop in Hayes Valley, where it is served in a ceramic carafe and cup and arrives on a wooden tray. Just be sure to bring a jacket; the Hayes Valley branch is entirely alfresco.
